Read, read, read! Reading is important to literacy development at any age. In 5th grade, we utilize the Lucy Caulkins Reading Workshop model and curriculum. This program encourages a dynamic reading approach that includes direct instruction, independent reading, book clubs, and small group instruction. Reading Workshop lessons occur 3-4 days per week. In 5th grade, our units of study cover:
