Annette Lemieux taught at Brown University from 1992 to 1996

- 1996 taught Summer Program at Harvard.

Media: Conceptual Mixed Media.: At first she used traditional techniques such as painting, casting and photography then expanded to included fiber glass, enamel paint, found objects.

Her art is also termed as “Feminist Conceptualism”.

Her father was in the Marines. However when Annette was 3 1/2 years old her mother decided that she no longer wanted to go on the” Marines tour” and settled in Torrignton, CT, her hometown. Annette never had a close relationship with her father.

Annette Lemieux first got the attention of the global art scene in 1980. She creates visual poetry from objects and images associated with memory, such as second hand furniture, used books, old photographs, memorabilia. :Annette shows a heightened sensitivity to the under-privileged and the marginalized.

Whatever the materials she uses, Annette invents techniques and processes that correlate with states of mind. Recurrent major themes include the horror of war, the nature of time, the elusive truth of memory, the nature of ideas and the relationship between personal experience and cultural history.
