GHS Strength & Conditioning Center Update

Photo of building with the words Strength & Conditioning Facility on the side.

Our district received seven bids for the GHS Strength and Conditioning Center construction. The Board of Education awarded the bid to the  Connecticut Carpentry Corporation from Rocky Hill. This selection was based on the "lowest responsible and qualified bidder" criteria. The total cost for the Center is approximately $1.65 million. This price includes two add-alternates for dormers and a permanent athletics storage area.  We remain optimistic that the center will be completed and ready for use near the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.

Kindergarten Age Change

Connecticut has joined the large majority of states in our country that require children to be 5 years old before September 1 to start kindergarten. The cut-off date used to be January 1. This change will narrow the age and developmental ranges of kindergarten classes. It will help ensure kindergarten students arrive ready to learn and thrive.

Glastonbury Public Schools will phase in this change over two years. This will assist families searching for childcare spots that are both hard to find and expensive. It will also help the school system in managing staffing levels.

Please visit our Kindergarten Registration website for details of the plan. After you register, click here for our Kindergarten Orientation page.

Naubuc Renovation Update

In March 2022 the Glastonbury Town Council approved the renovation of Naubuc School's second floor as part of the town's Capital Improvement Project budget. Construction is planned for the summer of 2023. Click here  to learn about the project and track its progress.
