Division of Comparative Medicine
Training
The Division of Comparative Medicine offers a variety of classes and workshops to train investigators and their staff in animal care and use policies, procedures, and techniques.
ORIENTATION SEMINAR
The Orientation Seminar is MANDATORY for all animal users and is the first step towards becoming approved as an animal handler. This seminar is offered online. The seminar provides an overview of animal welfare regulations, ethical considerations, as well as DCM policies and procedures. You will also learn the requirements which need to be fulfilled to receive approval by the IACUC office as an animal user and how to gain card reader access to the DCM facility.
See the page DCM Facility Access for more information and to sign up.
RODENT FACILITY TRAINING
Rodent Facility Training is required for anyone using mice or rats. It is held in person. You may sign up for the training by filling out the DCM Facility Access Form.
VETERINARY WORKSHOP
All classes require pre-registration: Workshop Registration. Space for these workshops is limited and will be filled on a "first-come-first-serve" basis.
Please contact the veterinary technical staff or one of the DCM veterinarians for any specific questions.
IMPORTANT: Personnel must have completed all the required steps to work with laboratory animals before they may attend any of the workshops.
