Investigators with non-standard husbandry requests are required to complete a service request/notification form. Special procedures include the provision of non-standard or medicated diets and/or water, alternate types of housing, or other accommodations. Special notices provide instructions for email notification types, special observation, enrichment devices, tissue collection, or other instructions.
Forms should be completed and submitted to the Husbandry team at husbandry@georgetown.edu at least 2 business days prior to when the service is to be provided.
The IACUC provides a mechanism for research animals purchased on one approved protocol to be transferred to another IACUC-approved protocol. The transfer must consider any prior use of the animal, as some limitations would prevent the transfer of certain animals (contact the IACUC coordinator for details).
Valid reasons for transferring animals are outlined below:
New Location (moving animals to a different housing type)
Transfer to a new Protocol, same PI *must request new cage cards
Transfer to new Protocol, different PI *must request new cage cards
To request an animal transfer, an Animal Transfer Request Form must be completed and submitted to the Husbandry team at least 2 business days in advance.
The IACUC provides a mechanism for fasting animals. Each fasting request must be approved on the protocol. Time limitations must be followed (contact the IACUC coordinator for details).
Forms should be completed and submitted to the Husbandry team at least 2 business days in advance.
Our husbandry team performs other services that include special observation, feeding special diets, providing special water, equipment cleaning, and equipment preparation. To request work or a task from husbandry, please complete a Husbandry Work Request and submit it to the Husbandry team at least 2 business days in advance.
