Division of Comparative Medicine

The Georgetown University Division of Comparative Medicine (DCM) oversees the Research Resource Facility (RRF) which supports animal research and teaching activities for Georgetown University Medical Center and the Main Campus.

To provide exceptional animal care with exemplary customer service that supports the biomedical research and teaching missions of the University; while promoting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace that fosters a culture of care for animals, DCM staff, and the research community.

To become an industry leader in innovative animal care, welfare, and enrichment through continuous improvements and collaborations with the biomedical research community.

 

DCM Strategy


Our mission and vision will be pursued programmatically by all levels of the division to continuously improve quality. Through a collaborative approach, the DCM will serve, advise, and educate researchers, staff, and students on animal models and bio-methodology while promoting best practices for the responsible use of animals in a respectable and safe work environment.

Georgetown University’s animal care and use program has been accredited by AAALAC International since 1962.

AALAS is an association of professionals that advances responsible laboratory animal care and uses it to benefit people and animals.
