As of the 1st of June, 2022, Google has removed a feature from their Google Account that allowed GDS to be able to send email using our customers' Gmail accounts. This change has resulted in GDS being unable to send emails via Gmail accounts. The guide below will assist you in enabling the required security features that will allow GDS to continue to send emails so that you can contact your customers and email invoices etc without interruption.
Step 1) Log in to your Google Account.
Step 2) Enter the security options.
Step 3) Click on 2-Step Verification
Step 4) Follow the on-screen instructions to set up 2-step Verification.
Step 5) Once 2-Step Verification has been set up, return to the Security options in your Google Account.
Step 6) Click on App Passwords
Step 7) Click on Select App, then Other, then type GDS into the box.
Step 8) Copy the 12-character long automatically generated app password.
Step 9) Log in to GDS as a Manager, then Click on GDS in the top left of the screen, then click on Configuration Settings, then click on GDS System Settings.
Step 10) Click on the Communication tab in the System Settings.
Final Step) Click on edit in the top right of the System Settings box, then paste the 12-character app password into the password box in your email settings, then click the save button at the top right of the System Settings box.
If all of these steps have been done correctly, you should now be able to send out emails through GDS, if you are still unable to email through GDS after following this guide, please call our support team on 01482 330 739 so that we can investigate the cause of the problem.
