Writing

The Fallsburg CSD Writing Committee is proud to publish a first draft of the “Writing Guidance for the Fallsburg Central School District.”  This document details the expectations for writing practices throughout the district, including updates to the writing sample process.

While the document does not detail specific curricula or core programs, it will be utilized in future discussions regarding them.

Initially proposed in the 2017–18 District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP, tenet 3), this work codifies the expected practices that should lead to improved student writing in support of the district’s vision.  A committee of teachers, administrators, and BOCES specialists, has been drafting this document since Fall 2017.  Though it requires additional work, we are confident in sharing it with you as a draft.

The committee is seeking input on this guidance document.  Please review it and, should you have comments or questions regarding it:

Please join me in thanking the following staff members and BOCES personnel who have contributed to this work:

The committee recognizes the need to raise awareness, enhance instructional strategies, and review curricula about writing.  Upcoming conference days and committee work (i.e., ELA Curricula Workgroup) will be dedicated to this effort.
