The Seal of Biliteracy is a distinguished award given to graduating seniors who have also demonstrated proficiency in more than one language. Fallsburg Junior/Senior High School and our district are committed to helping as many students as possible to earn this Seal. It is a major accomplishment that shows colleges or future employers that a student has mastered more than one language which is a truly valuable asset in today’s world.

New York State has a list of requirements that students must meet such as earning an 85% or higher in English class, receiving a proficient score on the Checkpoint C World Language assessment, presenting a culminating project in English and another language, or even providing transcripts from a school in another country. Students must earn at least three points for English and a second language by the end of their senior year. The complete list of credits can be found here. In order to facilitate as many bilingual graduates as possible, Fallsburg is now using a tracking system to help students understand which credits they have already earned and what more they may need to do to earn this Seal.
