We will meet at the Santa Ysabel Nature Center (Address: 22135 CA-79, Santa Ysabel, CA 92070)
Please be at the Nature Center no later than 9 AM (restrooms are available there). Mike Thacker will then give a geology presentation. From there it is an 8.5 mile drive to the Santa Ysabel East Preserve parking area, where we will begin an easy 1.5 mile hike through an impressive riparian area, with massive oaks and sycamore trees. We will lunch and have our reflection time along Santa Ysabel Creek. There will then be an optional and additional 4 mile hike and 560 foot elevation gain to the Kanaka Grasslands. Loop Trail. We will return by the same route.
In case of rain several days before our hike, there is a possibility that the Preserve will be closed and we will need to make alternate arrangements.
