Jeffery Pasek

Jeffery Pasek is the recently retired Watershed Manager for the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department. In this capacity, he oversees the management of water resources and other natural resource on 42,000 acres of land that Public Utilities owns around the City’s source water reservoirs, and guides the department’s interactions with other governmental entities and private land owners across 926 square miles of land that drain to the reservoirs. The San Diego Water Department supplies potable water to 1.2 million people in San Diego and neighboring communities. The Water Department operates nine surface reservoirs that capture runoff from 926 square miles of watershed land.

Jeffery’s work with San Diego’s water system spans more than thirty years. He was the Senior Biologist in the City’s Water Quality Laboratory and has worked as a reservoir biologist, lake ranger, and resident reservoir keeper.

Jeffery is a member of the American Water Works Association, North American Lake Management Society, and the American Water Resources Association. He has served on the Board of Directors and President of the California Lake Management Society.

Jeffery is a native San Diegan and is a lifelong resident of the San Diego area. He attended local public schools and graduated from San Diego State University where he studied geology and aquatic biology. His professional interests are limnology [the study of lakes and reservoirs] and watershed management.
