You will be required to debate against another team. You have been placed in teams of 2 or 3 where you must research your topic and be ready to defend your side. These topics are taken from current events and social studies curriculum.
You will be marked on your debate. On this site you will have rubrics and teams posted.
Good luck!
Rules to the in class debate
- You will need to use a presentation software for your opening statement
- You will need to write out a one page summary (point form) for your side of the debate. This will be given to the class in electronic form.
- Everyone on the team must speak at one portion of the debate
- You will have use of a computer at your time of prep for rebuttals
- You cannot interrupt during the other speakers statements
- The audience will be choosing the winners of the debate
Remember
- If the internet goes down or your computer crashes, that is valuable time wasted. So it might be good to come with a paper copy of your notes.
- Even if you don't agree with the side that you have been placed on, you must defend your side. So you need to convince yourself before you convince others.
