Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
CNC pillow redesign to increase distance between gauge holder rods
Increased strength for press fit rods
Modified gauge holder baseplate
1 180 degree curved track frame constructed. Rollers arriving week .
Heating tape ordered
Materials for 2nd 180 degree track ordered
Rough top conveyor belt ordered. Arriving end of week 6.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Tested Arduino as a method to speed up the stepper motor
Tested existing plastic funnel and new smaller diameter funnel with heated glycerin
Iterated CNC pillow block resulting in minor re-design of many gauge stand components
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish first roller curve track construction once rollers arrive (Elaine, Desi)
Place order with Reotemp machine shop for gauge holders (Elaine)
Purchase color sensor and associated hardware (Ethan)
Complete coding for integration of Arduino and PLC (Justin)
Evaluate ease of Controllino replacing Arduino (Justin)
Begin creation of wiring list and detailed wiring diagram (Ethan)

4/24/20 Zoom meeting with Eric & Brian
Reotemp has ordered the second conveyor
Wants long term support to be available for the PLC system
Team will try to upgrade from Arduino to Controllino
Approved idea for color sensors
CNC pillow block:
Concern on tight tolerance on holes to press fit the bearings in
Want to increase distance between bearing holes, which would entail modifying the baseplate holes as well.

If there are different volumes for same diameters, consider using different color for every different gauge
For color sensors, consider openCV or Python to delineate color
Look into the temperature the heating tape has to be to heat fluid to 110F
What safety regulations come with that?
Arduino could be the short term solution; substituting the Arduino for a Controllino could be a long term solution
Funnel: look into metal funnels
