Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Screen cover being built.
made appointment with Dr. Ben Xu to discuss ways to solve problem of drastic pupil diameter oscillations (peak-to-peak amplitude of 1mm). ppt demonstrating problem here: See "ben update..." https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ao-726etP6oKl0SRdjgqiE6MgSZ0
Diameter code works most of time. Roughly just 1 out of the 5 experiments I checked didn't work (ie scans off by up to 0.3mm more than 50% time). In one of the good trials, 85% of the scans very good. remaining 15% maximum deviation of 0.3mm, usually less.
see 2nd half of [vid1]... for confidence test of software. https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ao-726etP6oKl0SRdjgqiE6MgSZ0
Controls code seems okay (3s drive from 7mm to 5mm diameter)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
CAD of screen cover completed
discovered pupil oscillations as problem
did various tests. See ppt linked in overview.
Identified noise, when software isn't bad, is predominantly due to pupil. Need way to stabilize pupil.
Most part of the circuit have been soldered on PCB.
CAD of hardware case completed.
Small circuit fan purchased.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Build the screen cover and test with the computer screen to make sure the tarp material is thick enough if not add another layer or paint the tarp. (Robert)
[wanfang] test various ways to keep pupil from oscillating
3D-print the hardware case (will do tomorrow with Chris(Tuesday)) and assemble [Lihua]
finish GUI and control code (determine controller parameters - gain, delay time, initial brightness) [Jessica]

Risks and Areas of Concern
Drastic pupil oscillations. for example, if target is 5mm, we can get to 5mm +/- 0.5mm. pupil keeps oscilating
