Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
currently:
getting gain values for integral controller (1st trial scheduled for 2/21 3:30pm)
sponsor suggested an upper limit to brightness which is the threshold when the eyes switch from rods (low light) to the cones (brighter light). He wants to isolate pupil actions to response of rods. Sponsor proposed to convert value into light meter reading.
working on presets for pupil detection program because different color eyes confuses filtering step which converts grey-scale image into binary black or white image.
working on tent to minimize light leakage from monitor
Accomplishments from Previous Week
bought materials for screen tent
fixed circuit so LED brightness increases over entire 255 PWM
updated pupil measuring software to filter out reticles of imaging machine which was caused detection errors. See linked image.
previously, circumvented issue by increasing sensitivity of algorithm. However, resulted in many false diameters in real test
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
CAD and start building screen tent (Robert)
Purchase light meter and test the intensity of output of LEDs to figure out the light threshold that the rods start working. (Lihua)
Chasis CAD (Lihua)
Test control code on eye machine and create a GUI (Jessica)
[wanfang] create software presets for colored eyes. Help Jessica tune gain values and carry out tests measuring pupil diameter vs ramp/ step increases to brightness
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
[2/16/17 in person] Wants us to
plot pupil size vs light intensity when light intensity is a step-function and ramp function
try to work under a certain light threshold (sponsor will do the calcs and give us a number) where primarily the rods are activate
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
LED should not be on on 0 pwm. Check circuit.
Get LED to function over entire 255 PWM

Risks and Areas of Concern
if individuals have so much variance that PID code need be tuned for each individual

Schedule
Work on PID to make a steady and reliable closed loop code
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
black tarp for moniter tent ($30)
parking tickets (not fines) ($30)
Progress on Report and Webpage
worked on rough draft from TA's and instructor's input
