Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
All hardware assembly completed.
All PLC program completed and tested.
Multiple tests have been done, here are the results:
bottom flash can be trimmed with no difficulty.
the top blade got stuck when hitting the top flash.
Modifications and more tests need to be done accordingly.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Modification of the spring-driven bottom cutter assembly - easier to load and unload the container. (Rui/Alonso)
Demonstration of the program on the final assembly. (Alonso)
Completion of all the wiring and all the final fabrications. (Insik)
Demonstration of the safety mechanism: (Alonso/Rui/Keyu)
Emergency stop
Door switch
Improper location of the container
Multiple tests of deflashing with the actual containers. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Oriente the locations of the top cutter and the bottom cutter. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Resolve the bending problem of the top cutting blade by installing two angle blocks. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Find the idea flow speed and air pressure for all the pneumatic actuators. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Perform more tests with higher pressure and higher temperature of the containers. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Modify the bottom cutter assembly so that it becomes easier to move it on the top rail. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Prepare for checking off from the work space. (Alonso/Rui/Keyu/Insik)
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Please try to reduce the friction between the bottom cutter assembly and the top rail. (In person)
Will bring more unflashed containers by the poster session. (In person)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Poster lacking detailed analysis and missing parts. (In person)
Changed accordingly. (Insik)
Lacking valid explanation(higher pressure and higher temperature of the containers are now enough) for the failed deflash. (email)
Will work on that on Monday of the final week. (The whole team)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
"This is impressive". (In person)
Risks and Areas of Concern
With higher air pressure and higher temperature of the container, the top blade may still fail to cut the dome flash.
Reliability of the machine.
