Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Brief understanding of the main objectives of the project.
No specific design for now but most likely will use the cutting blade.
Find the ideal speed for the cutting blades/test on the actual material.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Sponsored Kickoff Meeting - having a general idea of the project and create a connection with the sponsor.
Setup future weekly meeting time with the sponsor and discussed the topic of the risk reduction
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Test the speed which melts the materials/the speed that will leave a scratch on the product - find the ideal speed.
Finish the risk reduction test and the analytical modeling on the cutting blades.
Report the result of the risk reduction test to the sponsors.
Prepare the final risk reduction presentation and its related materials(CAD, samples of the containers, cutting blades, etc.)
Make future milestones for the next quarter.
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Sponsored project kickoff meeting: brief introduction of GAMMA2 and its products. (3/10/2017 In person/Same for the following)
Their main goal is to create an automated universal deflasher that trims the container with different geometries after the blow molding.
Material is very hot when being cut.
The material thickness may not be uniform.
Attention on the budget.
Time constraint: 2 mins to make one single product / 30s for trimming manually as for now.
Recycling of the material.(right after the deflashing)
Asking for the samples of the products with/without the flash. (3/14/2017)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Did not have the meeting with the sponsor before meeting instructor.
Was asked to discuss the risk reduction with the professor.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
"This project is cooler than I thought."
"This project requires open & closed loop design, using pressure sensor for proper clamping."
Risks and Areas of Concern
Safety - Hot materials.
Melting plastic may release toxic chemical.
Damage on the product from the cutting the blades.
Accommodate several different geometries.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Access to the hot material after the blow molding.
Schedule
Testing the cutting speed of the blades.
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
No spending as for now.
Progress on Report and Webpage
Just started and will put more materials along this week.
