Printing

Papercut is our new printing solution that is used by everyone (Staff and Students). The system allows you to send to the printer directly from an application instead of having to create a PDF and submit the job to a web page. The new system also means that if for some reason a printer is broken down you still print the same way you just go to another printer and scan the new ID card.

To install the new printer at school takes several steps.

First you need to install the School Printer called "Papercut"

1. Open the Managed Software Centre (see Software)

2. Install the 'Papercut Print Deploy' client, this should be automatically installed when you run updates through MSC

If you can't see the printer icon in the top right, check for updates, 'update all' in the Managed Software Centre then restart your device and look for it again.

***** Don't close your computer or let it go to sleep if it is installing updates or software *****

Once the installation is complete you will now have a Printer installed on your computer.

Go to:

System Preferences >> Printers & scanners

You should see 'Papercut' as a printer

Click on 'Options & Suppies'

Add the 'Booklet Finisher L1' under the 'Output Options:

Click ok and you're done.

Printing is now performed using the "Papercut" printer (so you don't need to create a PDF to print).

Change your options as required

e.g. Duplex, colour etc. be mindful of the costs (see cost of printing below)

Cost of Printing

- A4 Black & White - 10 cents per page

- A3 Black & White - 20 cents per page

- A4 Colour - 25 cents per page

- A3 Colour - 50 cents per page

Note that Duplex printing is charged as two pages

When you go to the printer in the LRC you can either enter your student ID (which can be located on your student card) or swipe your student card over the reader on the left side of the copier control panel, this will allow you to select any jobs you have sent to the printer to print them or you can use the copiers functions such as 'copy' or 'scan to email'. The copier will not print if you don't have credit on your account. There is a kiosk in the student foyer where you can put money on your account, simply swipe your student card on the reader on the top right of the box then put the notes or coins into the slots.

Please note if you send a print job to the printer and forget about it the job will be automatically deleted overnight.
