Beanstack is the way that we track our community's reading, roll out reading themes and challenges, and motivate our students. This is the way that we track minutes or pages read for our summer reading and for our Hooked on Books reading during the school year. Here's a form with some information; more detailed instructions follow.
Photos and brief instructions follow, and links to video support are pasted within the article and posted below. Please email our librarian, Jolene Gutiérrez (jgutierrez@denveracademy.org) with any questions!
Thanks so much!
1. Here's an intro video that will guide you through using Beanstack. Before signing in to Beanstack, have your child sign in to their Denver Academy gmail because Beanstack pulls from that. The format is last name+first 2 letters of first name @denveracademy.org (for example, Sally Mustang’s email would be mustangsa@denveracademy.org). Students change their email at the beginning of the school year, so check with your child about their password.
Then, go to denveracademy.beanstack.org and sign in using the blue Google button.
2. To log reading, click the dark blue “Log Reading” button in the upper left-hand corner.
3. Now, you’ll have the option to start a timer, log minutes, or complete an activity. In order for your child to complete their nightly/weekly reading requirements, please use the timer or log minutes.
4. Choose the date you’ll be logging.
5. Scan the book’s UPC barcode on the back of the book to pull up title/author or type in the title and author. If your timer hasn’t autofilled your minutes read, input the number of minutes read. Create a review if needed, and then click “Log."
6. Would you prefer to use an app for Beanstack on your phone or tablet? Go here to see a video with more information, as login information is slightly different.
