The September Attendance Newsletter is here with critical updates as we prepare for the October Count. Inside, you’ll find key reminders about ensuring accurate attendance and membership data, updates on Classroom Attendance and TRB Reports, and upcoming training opportunities. Please take a few minutes to review the newsletter so your team is ready for audit requirements and aligned with best practices for reducing chronic absenteeism.
This week’s update highlights improvements to the classroom attendance report (now showing when and how often attendance is not taken), guidance on submitting help desk tickets for report issues, and a note on response times during this busy start to the year.
This week’s attendance update highlights key reminders for no-show students: use the Unknown Attendance Process and ensure records are end-dated as 7/1/25 to meet CDE requirements. Updates also include clarification on how tardies are calculated in Infinite Campus (with IT working on improved seat-minute tracking) and refreshed guidance on homebound programming, emphasizing medical documentation and collaborative planning for student support. Just a friendly reminder that any attendance messaging calls set up in Finalsite last school year will automatically transfer to this school year. If you need to make any changes to your automated attendance calls, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Lisa. Additionally, the returning staff attendance training on August 25th has been moved to the theater at Legacy due to some construction. If you’re a building registrar and also responsible for attendance in your building, I’ll do my best to share attendance information with you at the registrar meeting so you don’t have to attend on two separate dates. This is just a reminder that attendance training and meetings will be offered for the upcoming school year. Course registration is in the works. A laptop is needed for the training. If staff are new to Infinite Campus, completing the Infinite Campus Knowledge Base is preferred.

The district has over 80 students listed for 10+ consecutive absences. Please refer to the list here. Collaborate with your systems to identify students who have stopped attending school. If an investigation shows these students will not return this year, exit them on their last attendance day using the appropriate exit code. This must be completed before the end-of-year attendance Data is submitted to CDE. If you have questions, contact Lisa de la Peña.

TRAN Attendance Code: It is imperative that all schools rigorously adhere to the use of the TRAN attendance code whenever a family reports a student absence resulting from cancellations of District Bus Transportation. This policy permits no exceptions, even with Attendance Contracts. Accurate attendance data collection is crucial for assessing the potential restoration of transportation routes. Ensuring precise data capture via the TRAN code is essential in facilitating our efforts to effectively evaluate and address transportation service disruptions.
