Coney Island

At the Coney Island “Christmas Night of Lights”, viewers are able to enjoy the festive light display in the comfort of their own cars. The lights are synchronized with radio playing both old and new holiday songs. Not only do the lights bring joy to people who attend, but Coney Island also donates a portion to a variety of local charities, such as Toys for Tots, according to their website, http://coneyislandpark.com.

Cincinnati Zoo’s “Festival of Lights”

The Cincinnati Zoo’s “Festival of Lights” not only displays a wide array of lights, but also displays many animals, as well as a train ride and a illuminated puppet show presented by Madcap Puppets. Miriam Jenei, ‘19, said “The Cincinnati Zoo's Festival of Lights has an excellent display of lights, lots of hot chocolate, and nice indoor buildings to view animals and stay warm”. However, many students complained about the price of the display and the crowdedness at the Zoo. Despite this, over half of all surveyed plan on returning to the display next year.

Kings Island “Winterfest”

Kings Island “Winterfest” boasts a light display throughout the amusement park as well as access to many of the rides and an ice skating rink. However, the multiple amenities are accompanied by a large price tag, which is an aspect of the display many students lamented. Nonetheless, a lot of students enjoyed the display. “It was really pretty. There were lots of lights all over the park, and there were different holiday activities that you could do. At 5:30 they would light the ‘tree’, [which] was actually the Eiffel Tower but it was really pretty and went along with the music that was played.” Hannah Terrell, ‘23, said.

Neighborhood Light Displays

Houses all around Cincinnati show their holiday spirit by creating their own light displays. 23% of surveyed students responded that they had been to holiday light shows around their neighborhoods. “I think it's beautiful! My family and I go every year, and I always look forward to it!! We always bring hot chocolate and blankets and we look at the lights while listening to Christmas music” said Isabella Zinchini ‘22
