The data produced from students taking the SAT Suite of Assessments and from practicing on Khan Academy offer opportunities to adjust the curriculum. Identify the scope and sequence of standards in the curriculum and look for opportunities for growth and areas that your students find challenging. In particular, identify skills that are deficit and high leverage utilizing spring data. Then, use data form all levels too coordinate vertical alignment of skills and standards.
To start off, use the data analysis protocol to analyse classroom level data. Once you have an understanding of the classroom level data, meet with your Department Lead/Admin to discuss the classroom data. Then, meet with your content area team to do strategic action planning from the data.
It's important that your students are able to hear the analysis you have done of their data. Share content specific data with your students and use College Board growth norms to set a goal for spring testing. Make sure the understands that their goal is attainable if they take the necessary action steps to achieve that goal, including, but not limited to, spending the proper amount of hours on Khan (43 minutes/week) and attending school regularly.
Utilize the goal setting reflection form to make it easier for your students to understand the specific things they need to work on to improve. Further incentivize them to practice by showing the chart below. Connecting test scores and GPA with school options will act as a significant motivator for many students.
