The CPS Khan Academy SAT Playbook is designed for administrators, teachers & counselors, students, and parents. Each of these stakeholders groups play a crucial role in preparing students for the SAT and college readiness. Below, are the general responsibilities of each stakeholder group. For organizational purposes, we have divided responsibilities among stakeholder groups. However, we encourage stakeholders to read and understand each section. As with many aspects of education, best supporting our students for SAT success and college readiness is a genuine team effort.
High School Administrators are responsible for ensuring teachers have the time, support, and resources they need to strengthen the school’s system around using Khan Academy and providing a growth mindset around test preparation and college. At times, this section might include teacher leaders and under teacher/counselors: at times, teacher leaders/ILT might best implement elements of the administrator role.
Teacher leadership, collaboration, and safe practice are essential to developing a school-wide culture focused on student learning. Teacher teams need regular opportunities to meet with one another in order to reflect on and improve their practice. The guidance below outlines suggestions for activities teacher teams may engage in to support student success on the SAT.
Students are the key to the Playbook’s success. Their willingness to take ownership of the learning and to work with the school and teachers to maximize their effort is crucial.
Parent involvement helps bring culture and accountability to student preparation. Their partnership is crucial in helping students be successful.
The CPS Khan Academy SAT Playbook is designed to support students in grade 11 preparing for the SAT from June the previous school year through April testing.
