5th/6th Grade:
Fifth and Sixth graders are working on isolated dribbling, shooting and passing skills. They will then move into choice stations which reinforce these skills. Stations include Knock Out, 3 V 3, dribble/pass station, set shots and jump shots (at around the world). Introduction to layups.
7th/8th Grade:
Seventh and eighth graders are refining their skills and initiation includes squad vs. squad shooting, dribbling and passing competition to revisit and reinforce prior skills knowledge. Free movement stations include competitive tournament elimination rounds (2V2), dribbling/passing station, basket ball tricks (ie: spider, straddle flip, around the back etc) and a non-competitive 3v3 station.
At unit end we will compete in a game of HOOP FRENZIE between squads, which combines all dribbling, passing and shooting skills into a culminating activity.
ALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE A BASKETBALL SKILLS INTERIM ASSESSMENT THAT WILL BE ASSIGNED AT THE END OF THIS UNIT. IT WILL BE GRADED AND WILL BE ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM.
