My name is Ms. Jones and I teach PE along with Mr. Robinson at Eliot Middle School. I hold a K-12 PE certification as well as Masters +30, K-6 Education from SCSU. Experience includes classroom teaching 1997-2005 and PE 2005-present. I also hold a bachelor of business in Marketing from Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and prior to teaching, I worked for Golf Digest and Tennis magazines in marketing their instructional product lines.
I enjoy running, cycling, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking and skiing. I am an experienced western horseback barrel racer and British Horse Society show jumper. I've often competed in Connecticut triathlons in the summer months including the Dave Parcells and Pat Griskus memorial triathlons. I cycle over 100 miles per week during the summer months and participated in the Ride Closer to Free event. I am trained in Project Adventure/belaying -High 5 Adventure, Zumba, Step Aerobics, Yoga and Drums Alive and have experience teaching these classes in local Connecticut gyms as well as to the students here at Eliot. Coaching experience includes Eliot Field Hockey, Madison Youth Soccer and Madison Youth Lacrosse. I coordinate adult outdoor education adventures in hiking, paddle boarding, cycling and kayaking. In the summer I play on an adult beach volleyball league on the shoreline. I was fortunate growing up to have lived all over the world including England, France, Holland and South Africa and I enjoy sharing cultural experiences from these remarkable places. My hobbies besides fitness are going on my boat in Lyme, training my two ponies, Calypso and Poncho and hanging with the Chihuahuas.
I have two grown daughters, Danielle and Kendra. Kendra has a bachelor of fine arts degree at CCSU and Danielle holds a BBA in Marketing from Merrimack, recently crossing over into education. Danielle is married with a son, Brody and she is a fourth grade teacher in New Jersey. Danielle also coaches gymnastics in New Jersey. Kendra is carving her career path in fine arts here in Connecticut.
