Dickerson named principal of CCHS

The Clay County Board of Education has named Michael Dickerson as the new principal of Clay County High School.

Dickerson will take over the lead position from Teia Arms, who accepted the role of nutrition supervisor.

“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as principal at CCHS,” Dickerson said. ”We are blessed to have some of the brightest minds in the state and a faculty and staff that is second to none.”

A 1989 graduate of Smith County High School, Dickerson received a bachelor’s degree in physical education and wellness from Cumberland University.  He earned a master’s degree in instructional leadership from Tennessee Technological University.

Dickerson said that his goal as principal is to continue the tradition of excellence and support faculty, staff, and families.  

“I look forward to working each day to prepare our students with the skills necessary to be successful in life,” Dickerson said.

With twenty-eight years as an educator, Dickerson has been employed by the Clay County School District for 3 years, teaching PE/Wellness and ISS.  Prior to working at CCHS, Dickerson was employed as a teacher at Smith County High School.

Dickerson has served as an assistant and head football coach at SCHS and assistant football coach at Lebanon High School. He has been an assistant football coach at CCHS for 3 years.  

He is married to Alicia, and they have three daughters,Emily-19, Julia-17, and Eva-10. He lives in the Pleasant Shade community.
