Continued study of essential Spanish grammar and Spanish-speaking cultures. Continued practice and development of reading, writing, and speaking skills in Spanish. Emphasis on fluency and accuracy in spoken Spanish.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in SPA102, or SPA102AA, or SPA111, or permission of Department or Division. Completion of prerequisites within the last three years is required.
Overview:
This is the continuing study of essential Spanish language with a communicative approach that stresses four basic language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. You will be able to express your own ideas in Spanish and interact with others meaningfully and for real-life purposes with a strong emphasis on fluency and accuracy. The culture of Spanish-speaking countries is also an essential component of this course.
Course Objectives:
Use intermediate Spanish grammar and vocabulary in a contextual approach.
Develop your communicative skills in Spanish.
Increase your language proficiency through four skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading.
Expand your cultural awareness on the Spanish-speaking communities around the world.
Course Competencies:
Demonstrate comprehension of authentic written and oral passages that include detailed descriptions, subjective information, and narrations in the past, present, or future.
Employ the writing process to provide detailed descriptions, subjective information, and narrations in the past, present, or future.
Ask and answer oral questions to provide detailed descriptions, subjective information, narrate in the past, present, or future, give instructions and commands, and participate in basic conversations.
Use target language to describe cultural norms, values, beliefs, and regional variations in areas where it is spoken/used.
