Dates: 1/9-1/12

7th English A-Day: 1/9-1/12

Welcome back to semester two! Please remember that grades restart at the semester. That means every little point makes a big difference in a student's grade. Please encourage your student to begin their new start on the right foot.

Supply Check: As we start the new semester, I encourage you to check with your child to ensure that they have all the supplies they need to finish the year. School-wide required supplies include: school-issued agenda, pencils, pens, loose binder paper, and highlighters.

No Reading Homework this Week: Due to our shortened week, there will be no reading homework this week. Reading homework will resume starting next week. Remember that reading is assigned on a Saturday (1/13) and due the following Friday (1/19). This gives students the weekend to pre-load their reading, should they choose to do so. All reading, homework and in-class reading, must be tracked in Bookopolis in order to receive credit. Videos on how to log in and how to log their time are located in their Google Classroom stream view.

Weekly Update: This week we will reflect on last semester and set goals for this semester. We will also be diving into studying dystopias, as we will be beginning to read The Giver as a class in a few weeks.

Tuesday: In class, we will read for 15 minutes. Then, we will complete Quick Write #1. Next, students will reflect on their semester and create goals for this upcoming semester. We will finish the day by learning about utopias.

Thursday: In class, we will read for 15 minutes. Then, we will learn about dystopian societies.
