External Examinations
Every student will receive their personalised NZQA external examination admission slip shortly before exams commence. This admission slip must be taken to each exam and it should list all Achievement Standards from each subject that the student has studied during the course of the year. Grounds for withdrawing from any external standard are restricted to the following circumstances which may impair their ability to complete their learning:
Ongoing Medical Issues
National Level sporting and/or cultural representation causing ongoing absence
Missing a body of work due to joining a class later in the year
This must be approved by the HoD / HoF and the Principal's Nominee.
Further information about external exams can be found at the following links:
There is a special NZQA Student Exam Hub which is a good reference point to help find further information about your exams and any particular resources that may be available in your subject.
If a calculator is permitted for an exam it must be a NZQA approved one. Please check that your calculator is approved here.
Watches are not permitted to be worn in the examination room, regardless of the type.
Daily Rooming - can be found here (currently 2024, will be updated in Oct, ready for 2025 Nov exams). Students will need to know their examination code which consists of a letter and a 3 digit number e.g. G115. This can be found on the Examination Admission Slip.
Absent from external examinations
Please contact the Qualifications and Assessment Office as soon as possible. A medical certificate must be supplied and section B of the Derived Grade application must be completed by a registered health professional. If the absent is not due to medical reason, please contact the Assessment Office to discuss.
