The course focuses on relationships, processes, mechanisms, and application of concepts of the living environment. Students will develop IB-level skills through mathematical data analysis, scientific inquiry and engineering design. The Regents exam assesses students' ability to explain, analyze, and interpret biological processes and phenomena more than students' ability to recall specific facts. Major content covered in the course includes cell theory, genetics, evolution, reproduction, homeostasis & immunity, ecosystems and human impact on the physical and living environment.
