In 6th grade ELA, Brooklyn Prospect students will be reading and analyzing texts from a range of genres including historical fiction, folktales, dystopian literature, non-fiction, and realistic fiction. Students will investigate how authors develop memorable characters, structure texts, and use key plot points and various literary devices to develop the themes of works of literature. While reading a range of novels and stories, students will examine how stories and characters are shaped by the people around them, culture, and both local and global contexts. Students will also analyze how individuals can persevere and change when faced with various challenges. Students will be exposed to different forms of analytical, informational and creative writing and author their own paragraphs, essays, folktales, short stories, and journal responses over the course of the year.

Office hours is a great opportunity to go over lessons from class, get help with homework, problem solve with your teachers, or work to improve your grade!
Sometimes, you will be invited to attend small groups during office hours, so be on the lookout for emails.
