Announcements

Here's a quick view of what's going on at Broadmeadow! For information on what's going on in Needham, check out the Community News.

PLEASE INVEST IN OUR CHILDREN TODAY!

The PTC needs your support! The Invest In Our Children campaign is our most important fundraiser of the year: 100% of your donation will directly support Broadmeadow and have a meaningful impact on your child’s education. IIOC is the major funding source for the annual Broadmeadow PTC budget and allows us to provide guest educators, classroom technology upgrades, fun family events, innovative classroom supplies, the Broadmeadow family directory, and so much more.

This year, we're aiming to raise $26,000 with 100% family participation. Every donation, no matter the amount, is appreciated and important in helping us reach our goals!

The Broadmeadow PTC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and your donation is tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 04-3431845. Does your company have a matching gift program? Please remember to send in your company’s matching funds form.

If you have any questions about the annual campaign, please contact Kate McKiernan at iioc@broadmeadowptc.org.

PLEASE COMPLETE IMPORTANT PTC FORMS - DUE BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23rd

Directory Form

Every fall, the PTC creates a school directory with class lists and family information, which allows families to easily contact one another. In order for your family to be included, we need your authorization and accurate information. Please help us get this valuable resource finished and distributed quickly by clicking this link to complete the directory form. Information about advertising in the directory is included at the end of the form. If you have any questions about the directory, please contact Diana Chaves at directory@broadmeadowptc.org.

Volunteer Form

The Broadmeadow PTC relies entirely on volunteers to raise funds and deliver programs and events that enrich our children's education and build school community. Whether you give an hour, an afternoon, or more, we are grateful for your time! If you are interested in volunteering this year, please click this link to complete the volunteer form to indicate your interests. If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Rachel Bright at volunteer@broadmeadowptc.org.

Please complete both forms by Friday, September 23rd.

MEDIA CENTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

Working in the Broadmeadow Media Center is a great way to see your child during the day AND make a big difference in our school. Did you know that over 1,000 books circulate through our library every week? Librarian Jenn Potter counts on parent volunteers to help with shelving and checking books in and out throughout the day.

To learn more about this volunteer opportunity, join us for an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 28th at 8:20am in the Media Center. No experience is necessary, and new volunteers will shadow an experienced volunteer before working on their own.

You can sign up for volunteer slots here. Use the tabs at the top of the page to find the day of the week when your child's class goes to Media. Our goal is to have at least one volunteer per class, and we especially need experienced volunteers for the first few weeks of school.

If you have any questions, please contact Kristine Roy at media@broadmeadowptc.org.

JOIN PRINCIPAL GARLICK FOR COMMUNITY COFFEE - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 8:30AM IN THE PERFORMANCE CTR.

Join Principal Andy Garlick for the first Community Coffee of the year on Friday, September 30th at 8:20am in the Performance Center. Principal Garlick will be joined by three math instruction experts: Kathleen Hubbard, the district’s Elementary Math Curriculum Coordinator, as well as Liz Silva and Lisl Heiden, Broadmeadow’s Math Coaches. They will discuss the new math curriculum and strategies that families can use to support math thinking and skills development at home. If you can't attend in person, the presentation will be recorded and shared with all families.

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The PTC is proud to announce that we are sponsoring Tova Speter as our artist-in-residence this fall. Tova will lead our entire community -- faculty, staff, students, and families -- in creating a new piece of collaborative artwork to hang in the Performance Center. The work will be based on the book This Is a School by John Schu.

Tova will be working with each class at Broadmeadow, allowing every student to create a piece of the artwork. The whole community is also invited to participate by joining us on Monday, October 3rd, from 5:00 - 7:00pm, at a drop-in event outside on the playground. We hope you are able to join us for as little as 5 minutes or as long as the full 2 hours.

Click here for more background on this project. Please reach out to Abigail Hays at artistinresidence@broadmeadowptc.org with any questions.
