Famous Person Biography Task

Competency: I will independently determine the craft and structure of nonfiction texts, including first and second hand accounts of the same event.

Competency: I will independently interpret, explain, and integrate information from nonfiction texts in my writing.

Task:

1. Students will choose a famous person (historical or contemporary as long as they contribute positively to society) to research. This person must be approved by the classroom teacher and students must be able to find at least 3 print resources to support their research. Videos, websites, etc. may be used as well.

2. Students will read to become experts on their person.

3. Students will create a biography on their famous person, using the research they have done.

4. Students will include a bibliography to reference their work.

5. Students will publish their biography.
