Fractions Community Quilt Task

Competency: I will understand and independently express fractional relationships, including equivalence and ordering, building fractions from units, and the relationship between fractions and decimals.

Task:

1. Students will study fractional parts of a whole.

2. Students will create their own quilt square for the grade 4 community quilt using fractional pieces.

3. Students will use equations to prove their fractional pieces add up to one whole.

4. Students will explain how they created their design and describe their thinking.
