Angela Hedley-Mitchell has served the Boston Public Schools (BPS) for 24 years. Angela spent 15 years at the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK), where she served as an inclusion history teacher and taught U.S. History I, U.S. History II, Ancient World History, Modern World History, African American Studies and Economics. During her tenure as a teacher, in 2006, Angela was awarded Boston Teacher of the Year. She later served the school as an Assistant Headmaster taking on the roles of Advanced Placement Coordinator, department chair, professional development developer and chair of the Student Support Team.
In 2016, Angela joined the Academic Response Team where she worked as an instructional coach with the turnaround high schools. In addition to her BPS responsibilities, Angela previously served as Adjunct Faculty at Northeastern University and a curriculum consultant in South Africa. Angela holds a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a M.Ed. from Northeastern University in Curriculum and Instruction, a CAGS from Simmons University in Educational Leadership and earned a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University in 2023. In her spare time, Angela enjoys spending time with her three children and shuttling them to various sports and activities.
John lives in Medway, MA with his wife Laura, daughter Mary (21) and
son, Jack (17). He attended Northeastern University and earned a B.A in
History and minor in Political Science (95'). He also earned a M. Ed. (97') from University of Massachusetts Lowell, a M.A. in History (‘02) from Providence College, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (13') from N.E.U. John was a high school principal, and has taught at the middle, high school and college levels.
Kaitlin joined the Boston Public Schools in 2016. She spent her first seven years with New Teacher Development, after serving as a history teacher for nine years in Lawrence, MA and Meriden, CT. Kaitlin attended the University of Connecticut for both her Masters and Bachelors through the UCONN Neag School of Education. She received her administrator's license through Southern Connecticut State University.
Kaitlin spends her free time with her family and enjoys playing tennis for exercise. She also enjoys being involved with her community.
Linnea Guinan has been working in public education both in Colorado and Massachusetts for the past 15 years. She received her masters degree in Integrated Elementary and Special Education in 2013 from Wheelock College, and has been teaching in Boston Public Schools ever since. Linnea, a former professional ballet dancer is passionate about integrating her love of the arts into all of her educational endeavors. As an educational leader she uses her strong sense of community and social responsibility to be an advocate for social justice and societal change while inspiring her students to find their own voice. She believes passionately that no calling in our society is more central to democracy than education. Linnea lives on the south shore with her husband, two daughters and golden retriever. She enjoys reading, gardening and anything having to do with the ocean. Linnea is excited to be contributing to Boston Public Schools in this new role and chapter in her life.
Mike previously worked in Brockton Public Schools from 2013 to 2024. He spent his first 11 years teaching US History at Brockton High School with a focus on AP and STEM curriculum. Mike has a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science from Muhlenberg College ('10) and his Master's in Teaching History from Bridgewater State University. He has done six AP Readings and believes in increasing access for students to AP classrooms. His educational guru is Ken Robinson and he believes in the capacity of all students to showcase their creativity in the classroom.
Mike likes to spend time with his family, playing board games, watching Taskmaster, and finding comic books and vinyl records.
Rajeeve Martyn has been an educator in the Boston Public Schools since 1999. He was a high school History teacher for 18 years before serving as an administrator at Boston Latin Academy for seven years. Rajeeve also was a high school History Coach for the district and has served on the Teacher Advisory Board of Facing History and Ourselves. He has received fellowships from the Massachusetts Historical Society and the US-Japan Foundation.
Rajeeve has mentored 14 student teachers, many of whom currently work in the Boston Public Schools. Rajeeve enjoys reading, exercise, and trying new recipes. He likes exploring Boston with his family. He is looking forward to supporting History educators in Boston’s high schools and alternative education schools.
