- OBJECT OF THE GAME
- Two competing teams attempt to gain possession of the gator ball and move the ball passed the opposing team's defense/goalie. The goal of the offense is to control the ball and shoot it passed the opposing goalie. The goal of the defense is to try to stop the offense's attack and move the ball back up court towards the opposing team's goal.
- HOW TO PLAY
- 1. Each game will consist of three equal periods
- 2. Each team will consist of an even number of players
- Goalie (stops the ball from going into the net with the stick)
- Offense (controls the ball and scores on the opposing team)
- Defense (steals the ball from opposing team and passes to offense)
- 3. Goals are scored when the ball crosses the goal line
- Ball may not be kicked in by offense
- Goal counts if deflected off defense player
- Goal does not count if there is a penalty on the offensive team.
- 4. Face offs will start each game and after a goal is scored
- Offense players must tap sticks three times before taking possession
- Players may only use the stick to gain control of the ball
- PENALTIES
- All penalties result in removal of game for 1 minute. Teams will play short handed for the period of time unless a goal is scored by the opposing team. All players on the court may receive a penalty. After three penalties in one game, the player is removed from the remainder of the game. Penalties include:
- High sticking (lifting stick above knee when around other players)
- Slashing (using the stick as a weapon)
- Roughing (pushing of another player)
- Sliding (player leaves his or her feet to control ball)
- Hooking (attempting to grab an opponentĂs stick)
