Cruise Control in Honda Odyssey 2005

How to replace cruise and radio control switches on steering wheel in Honda Odyssey (2005)

  1. Time required: 2 hours.
  2. Tools required:
    • Phillips head screwdriver
    • Torx T-30 and T-40
    • Hex nut removal tool (socket) - 10mm
    • New switch assembly (Part No: 35880-SHJ-A61ZA)
    • Radio Code to reset radio

  1. Safety First: Disconnect battery before you proceed. During this procedure airbag assembly has to be removed so it is imprerative that battery is disconnected at least 3 to 5 minutes before working on the airbag. If you are not comfortable at this stage - STOP and take your vehicle to a dealer or your favorite auto machanic.
  2. The first photo given below shows that cruise control switch does not engage when pressed. Cruise light come on when cruise control switch is pressed but as soon as switch is released the cruise button pops up and cruise light goes off.
  3. See photos given below and text next to the photos to complete this task (Note added: A automachanic has told me that easy method to remove cruise and audio controls is to remove airbag, disconnect all connections, remove streering wheel, and then unscrew cruise and audio controls - otherwise it is very hard to remove and put screws back that hold cuirse and audio control units in place):
