Detailed info in Assessments and Grades. In general, an "S' means students are doing a good job. An "O" is not difficult, however the student must make an effort to assist with the PE community through leadership, compassion, caring and/or honesty.
4th and 5th graders do receive skill assessments. A student who is unable to perform these physical or social skills can end up with an S-, however extra credit is given to students who submit monthly activity logs.
Your child needs gym shoes to safely participate in PE. The expectation is the shoes must provide good support ands safely stay on the child's foot. Crocs in "sport mode" is a gimmick and not allowed.
There is a small selection of shoes students borrow when they are without. If no sixe is available, students sit out.
When PE is outdoors, students are expected to participate fully in the footwear they are sent to school in. However, XC ski boots are provided for student use.
Information is great! It is very common to email the nurse and PE teacher if your child may have difficulties in participation. PE can be excused for the day with a simple email or phone call to the office. A doctor's note may be needed if your child will miss an extended amount of time.
