During the month of November, students learn and play indigenous games during PE classes. One part of this unit is being introduced to the competitive games of the Junior Native Youth Olympics.
The Cook Inlet Tribal Council holds this annual event for students grades 1st-6th to compete in a variety of these indigenous games (video examples below). Our JNYO club meets to prepare our athletes for this competition, but many kids participate just to hang out and have fun training and doing these activities!
To participate, complete, and return the registration and waiver which will be available in the media rack at school.
If you have/know a 6th grader, I can sign them up to compete if their school doe snot have a team. 7th- 8th graders eligible for state event as well. Let Mr. Olson know if interested.
