Created by Stacy Kitsis, AHS Librarian. Last updated: September 15, 2025.
The list of nominees was curated by a committee of public librarians, school library teachers, and other educators. Each book must meet the requirements for eligibility. These are:
1. The book must be of interest to teens in grades 7 through 12.
2. The book must be published within two years of the creation of the nominated book list.
3. The primary consideration of book selection should be quality, but level of young adult interest should also be considered. Only titles published with young adults being the primary audience shall be considered.
4. There are no restrictions based on the home state or country of the author or whether the author is still living.
5. Sequels are ineligible for nomination.
Find the classmates who read the same MTCBA book you read*
Talk among yourselves (did you like the book, why or why not, etc)
Make a digital poster for your book's MTCBA campaign (see below for your deck and slide number)
Present your nominee to the class in a one-minute "for your consideration" pitch
Vote for the MTCBA book you think should win
*If you are the only person who read your book find other people who don't have a group and chat together
Your pitch should be about one minute long
You'll want to include some kind of spoiler-free summary or description of the book and what makes it good/worthy of the MTCBA (or not?)
You may include the book cover on your digital poster but that should not be the ONLY thing (consider other images that evoke a mood or hint at the content of the book) (some limited text is also okay) (creativity is encouraged)
