In late October, Park Center hosted the 17th annual Treasure Mountain Research Retreat. This is the first time the event, focused around the topic of school librarianship, has ever been held in a school setting. Sixty of the most influential academics and practitioners in the profession came from around the world to share current research in the field. Esteemed guests included Dr. David Loertscher, who invented the Learning Commons model; Blanche Woolls, a past president of the American Association of School Librarians; Nancy Everhart, current President of AASL; Susan Ballard, President-elect of AASL, as well as Dr. Violet Harada, Joyce Valenza, Dr. Ross J. Todd, and Lisa Perez. A couple dozen students from across the district were interviewed about their technology use and favorite projects. The results were compiled in a Google Form, and were immediately analyzed by the group. We are proud to have hosted this world-class gathering of minds.
