Eugene Hwang (Y11)

Eugene Hwang is a Year 11 Computer Science student who we would like to formally  recognise for his remarkable problem solving and programming skills in the community. In the May 2021 award ceremony, he achieved a gold medal in Digital Technologies at the UNSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS). This is a prestigious award which is only given to the top scorer in each country.

Eugene has participated in the Malaysian Computing Challenge (MCC, 2020) and was awarded the Gold Medal. As a result of his exceptional performance he qualified for the Malaysian Computing Olympiad (MCO, 2021); this is an invitation only competition, which only the top performers of the MCC are invited to participate in. This is a tremendous achievement, as the Mathematical and algorithmic complexity of the problems which need to be solved are extremely challenging. Where he competed against hundreds of programming enthusiasts and applied his logical thinking and programming techniques to a range of problems.
