Round 0 2021-22 (Optional)

Challenge: now available

Low security - 60 mins max, teacher help allowed, use any time before January 2022, pairs or solo - students will need a skeleton login & then need additional password cabbage22 to activate).

Round 1

Round 1 window: Mon 24th Jan - Fri 4th Feb (pairs/40 mins/two age categories)

(pairs competition, medium security - 40 mins, participation/merit/distinction certificates + eligibility for R2

There will be two age categories for Round 1 this year: Year 7-9 and Year 10-11. The Year 10-11 standard will be the same as previous competitions but Year 7-9 will be easier. Younger students can still sit the older round if preferred.

Documentation available to students during the event: the main language reference website + up to 20 A4 sides of notes/examples in printed or digital form. One example 20 side extract is available on the resources area of our site

Qualification for round 2

Round 2 window: Mon 14th Mar - Fri 25th Mar (trios/60 mins)


The top 25% of pairs; each student in a qualifying pair has the right to assemble a team of up to 3 (max 2 year 10/ 11's) for the final round. (trios, high security - 60 mins, certification + prize money/cup*)

* Note - international schools can complete all rounds of the competition including certification but only teams from UK schools are eligible for the final prize money/cup.
