Psychology is a scientific field that studies the mind and behavior. Research in psychology seeks to understand and explain how we think, act and feel. The most important basis of psychology is the diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues. In addition psychology researches to improve peoples' lives, labor productivity, and finding answers to human behavior.
Psychology evolved from the merging of Philosophy and Biology, with the Greek thinkers of Aristotle and Socrates. Psychology even comes from the Greek word Psyche which means "life", "soul", and "self". Psychology didn't become an academic and recognized field until 1879 when Wilhelm Wundt, a German scientist, began controlled experiments of the human mind. Afterwards many had different theories about human behavior which resulted in different schools of psychology.
