How do I know if I'm Blending? (One possible way is the BL Litmus Test)
Blended Learning by the Book
The definition of blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns:
(1) at least in part through online learning, with some element of student control over time, place, path, and/or pace;
(2) at least in part in a supervised brick-and-mortar location away from home;
(3) and where the modalities along each student’s learning path within a course or subject are connected to provide an integrated learning experience.
(From Christensen Institute)
What that Means
A definition could be:
The intentional use of technology partnered with sound face to face instructional methods as a means for learning content.
What it is:
teacher multiplier
process accelerator
an easier way to tighten feedback loops
an effective way to differentiate
What it isn’t:
technology as babysitter
technology for technology’s sake
just screen time
a teacher replacement
another thing
Based on the presupposition that you have some devices and rituals and routines around their use.
How do I already plan?
What are the expectations of my school on recording planning?
What other methods will I be using?
What are my content objectives?
What are the learning targets that help students meet objectives?
How do these become checkpoints?
Do I really need to record everything? (what assessment data is important?)
