The grease pit is used to tip your washing up water down and it removes all the bits of food out.
A small area of earth needs to be turfed (this means just take the grass off the top - it does not need to be deep), the pit provided then needs to be sat above ground level so that as you pour water through it can drain away. Use wooden pegs in the ground to do this.
The pit then needs filling with grass, this helps to catch the food as the water goes through. Then the grass needs putting in the bin and replacing daily.
We try and prevent food being left lying around in the grass because they attract animals
What is a wet pit? A wet pit is simply a device for disposing of your dirty water (washing up water, from pans etc). Although there is always a temptation to just 'chuck it in the hedge', all the food bits and things will attract animals - presenting several other problems. So, a wet pit acts as a filter and takes any solid matter (food bits, grease etc) out of the water and allows 'clean' water to be disposed of.
Think about what will happen to the poles as you add weight to the line, if you angle the poles away from the line as you load it the poles will go vertical
Use guys on the poles similar to the patrol tent, a three sided washing line is best
You may need two guylines for each pole depending on how well you position them....
A Hanging Shoe organiser can save a lot of space, keep your uniforms organised and clean etc etc
