Medical Parade will be held twice a day for Scouts to collect medicines, report any medical problems and to receive any non-urgent medical attention. Medical parade is called by hoisting flag Zulu. Anything you think is urgent (including a burn of any size) please find a leader at any time, generally someone can be found in the Wardroom or QM stores, if they can’t help they will find someone who can.
For general well being, we will provide medicines as appropriate and according to the information provided on the completed health form. All medication will have been handed in before getting on the coach. It must be clearly labelled with your name and the dosage required. This also needs to be noted on your medical form. Asthma inhalers may be kept by Scouts, but a spare must be retained by the Medical Officer (MO). No other medication will be kept in Scouts’ patrol sites without permission from the MO.
It is advisable to have a small personal first aid kit for treating minor ailments like blisters, bites and small grazes. This should only include
● A few plasters
● A few antiseptic wipes
● Some insect bite reliever.
You should not use your personal first aid supplies on anyone else. If you run out or require anything more extensive, then you should report to the MO. If you are unsure about a cut or bite then please attend Medical Parade where they will sort you out.
There will be an overnight duty first aider who will have a light outside their tent. Your first port of call overnight will be to the duty first aider who will then wake other leaders as necessary.
