Keeping in Touch - Letters and Post Cards

It is always nice to update the parents of what we have been getting up to; the most effective way for the Scouts to do this is by sending postcards home. Most days someone will be leaving the campsite and can post pre stamped letters for the Scouts (deliver to QM tent at stores time and they will arrange to get them in the post).

We will also be posting photos on to our camp Facebook page (we will let you know when it has been set up) as often as possible so you will be well informed of what we are up to. Each day we will also aim to get the Duty Patrol to write a piece about what they have been up to that day. A small number of photos will be posted to the main group page but we don’t want to bombard those from other sections with our photos. For those who don’t use Facebook we will endeavour to put photos up onto the website and this page.

If you wish to write to your Scout please read the details about home sickness first! Letters and postcards which are not posted by the first Friday of camp (30th July) are unlikely to reach us. Alternatively if you wish to send post up with us to give out middle weekend please hand it to Neil or Nick before we go.

It is safe to assume that ‘no news is good news’ where summer camp is concerned. In the case of any serious incident, or your child being unduly upset we will of course contact you.

If the phone is not answered please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible, be aware that all leaders will be busy running activities and there will not always be someone available to answer the phone, we do check the phone regularly for messages. The camp phone is the first port of call, however if you need to get in touch and we haven't got back to you can try calling Neil on 07806 712775 or Nick on 07879 803632

The phone signal at this site is patchy so please be patient and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

If you urgently need to get hold of someone on camp, this is the best way to contact us, if it is an emergency and you can’t get hold of a leader please get in in touch with our Home Contact. The Home contacts are Emma Elson and Carrie Beardmore, please be aware that neither are on camp, as the title suggests, and they are also working during the week. But in the case of emergencies they are there for you to call.

Similarly if we need to contact parents due to a change in our plans or any incident, then we will be holding name, address and contact number information for each of the participants on camp, so please ensure we have the correct contact details for where you are during the two weeks at camp. A reminder will be sent out for you to update your details via My Scout before summer camp.
