Carolyn (Kay) Howard (neé Webster)

March 27, 1947 - November 19, 2005


Carolyn (Kay) Jean Howard died Saturday, November 19, 2005, at her home in Villisca. She was born March 27, 1947, at the Cooper Hospital in Villisca, the daughter of Walter and Lessie (Honeywell) Webster. She graduated from Villisca High School in 1966. After graduating she went to school in Omaha, then came back and worked in Red Oak. She married Ronald Howard on April 21, 1968. To this union one daughter was born; Cynthia Kay.

Carolyn worked at NSK in Clarinda from 1976 until 1984. She moved to Shenandoah in 1980. In 1986, Carolyn went to work for Nishna Production in Shenandoah. In 1988, she moved back to Villisca to the family home, where she helped care for her mother. During this time she drove a truck for various companies until illness forced her to retire in 1993.

She was a member of the Advent Christian Church in Villisca, Iowa.

Carolyn's passion was playing the guitar, and singing country and gospel music. She enjoyed going to church and participating in activities there. She also enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors, and riding horses.. Her greatest joy was her daughter and grandchildren. Carolyn collected eagles and M & M characters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Beverly, and one brother, Bob.

Carolyn was survived by her daughter, Cindy; three grandchildren, Cassidy, Christian, and Abraham of Villisca; sister; Pat Irish, and her husband, Bill, of Des Moines; and her brother, Bill Webster, and wife, Doris, of Indianola, Iowa. She was also survived by her nieces, Sandy Irish of Des Moines, Teresa Smith and husband Gary of Indianola, and Connie Campbell of Glenwood, and by her nephews, Adam Webster of Indianola, Tim Baylor and Billy Joe Baylor, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, November 22, 2005, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. A memorial was established.
