Douglas W. Bloom

Douglas Wayne Bloom, 74, died on September 30, 2022, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa.

He was born on February 16, 1948, to Geraldine (Geri) (née Anderson) and Robert Wayne Bloom. He attended school in Villisca, graduating in 1966. He then attended junior college in Clarinda and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1970.

After working at the Lisle Corporation and Universal Products, Doug worked at the Department of Corrections from 1981 until he retired in 2010. He also managed the family farm. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting sports.

Doug was survived by his daughters from his first marriage to the former Marsha Bryson, Kari Bloom and Kati Bloom,. He was also survived by his granddaughter, three step-grandsons, and his brother, Randy (Diana) Bloom.

Doug’s second marriage, to the former Jerrelynn (Jeri) Miers, ended in divorce in 2021.
